A big part of our life is our participation in, and sometimes management of, nonprofit events. Since college, Kelly has been active in both paid and volunteer positions overseeing special events. Along the way, she has made sure Ian shared the experience, many times as an all star volunteer and photographer. Below are some pictures and stories from some of our favorite events. MS Half-Court Classic
One of Kelly's favorite projects while working for the National MS Society in Chicago was the MS Half-Court Classic, a four-on-four basketball tournament held at the United Center. Kelly had the wonderful challenge of re-inventing this event for the Chapter, including a new name, new logo and artwork, and a new target market: young professionals. Kelly managed this event with an amazing committee, and Ian was able to fill dual roles of photographer and player on one of the teams. It was an amazing experience to walk on the same court where the Chicago Bulls won their Championships. We had full use of the facilities, and the United Center staff was amazing to work with. The event began at 5:00 in the morning for set up, with tournament games running from 7:30 am - 2:00 pm. The teams had a great time, and it was an exciting competition to watch. After the tournament, we all went out to eat and then stayed for the Bulls game that night. While it was a lot of fun, it was also a successful event, building a foundation for a great fundraiser for MS research and services. To learn more about this event, visit www.msillinois.org.
